An archives roundup for Christmastide
Wishing you all a peaceful end to 2025
Happy Second Day of Christmas!
I know this week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is a mixed bag for many of us. Maybe you have the entire time off work, maybe you go back today, or maybe you have a mix of the two. I’m packing up to go to Arkansas for a few days with the Platter family, and after a whirlwind of work leading up to Christmas Eve, I’m not really in the headspace to write anything new. HOWEVER… I have several posts in the archives to share if you want something to read during any holiday hurkle durkling this week.
Here is a post I wrote about peace on December 26, four years ago. I was on day 25 of solo parenting quarantine with my young children when I shared it. Oof. I guess the jokes really do write themselves sometimes.
Seedlings and Swingsets is my very first post on Substack where I share the story of when I felt God for the first time on a swingset in my back yard. I also share some initial ambitions for how I might use the platform that you’ll notice have evolved… a lot. ha!
If you’ve never read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith, this week would be a great time to start! A few years ago we did a lil book club with eight posts reflecting on the spirituality of the book, including a guest post from my dear sister Hannah. It’s one of my top three favorite books, and I’d love to know what you think if you decide to read it.
I hope whatever this week holds, you stumble on some peace and joy along the way. Thanks for supporting me as I’ve renewed my writing habit this year. I look foward to seeing what this practice brings in 2026!
Until then,
Janette
