🕊 Week by Week #6
Passing on the means of grace & this month's extra resource: a booklist for grief
Hello again,
Phew. The last few weeks have been a bit full but with mostly good things. How are you? What has been on your plate as we’ve moved into April? As always I’d love to hear so reply to this email, text me, leave a comment… find me in a way that suits you!
I don’t know if it’s my new anti-depressants, the new job, spring temperatures, or all of the above, but I’ve got the slightest extra pep in my step lately. The seedlings my cats haven’t eaten are doing very well and I’m eager to get planting outside. Currently sitting on my hands waiting for that inevitable last frost. (There’s a spiritual lesson in there somewhere but I will save it for another day. ha) My new colleagues are so lovely and welcoming. The new Maren Morris album is the soundtrack of my days, and I’ve decided to start playing the piano again. (Cue Ted Lasso saying, “We’re talking about PRACTICE.”)
The piano that I have in my home was bought for my mother’s home circa 1971. She played it on and off throughout her growing up years, and then it was in my home growing up in the 90s and 00s while I took voice and piano lessons for about 13 years. Before I decided to go into ministry I thought I would study music in college. While I didn’t end up doing that, I have been able to use music in my work as a chaplain. I have sung to new babies and dying widows, nervous children, and anxious parents. It’s been a joy to share that gift with others, passing on the means of grace through hymns and lullabies.
